We are a couple of grey nomads travelling Australia. We are happy to share our experiences or chat to anyone who may be travelling or about to travel this great country.

We travel slowly and enjoy exploring the local area to meet the local people and learn about the area history when we stop. The maps below (and no they are not in proportion - sorry Tasmanians) show the main roads we have travelled on this adventure. We consistently get asked 'what is your favourite spot' and we find that almost too difficult to answer as we love many locations throughout this amazing country for their own special features.

We left our home on the outskirts of Brisbane early 2012 towing a small caravan. We have camped with tents of various sizes, caravanned and had a variety of boats all our lives. When we left we had a basic twelve month plan but really had no idea how long we would last or could put up with each other long term in a confined space. The longer we have travelled the more we have fallen in love with the continued learning experiences about our country and experiencing the shear beauty this country has to offer as well as meeting some fabulous people. We have now acquired a larger Crusader caravan and intend to keep on adventuring as long as we possibly can. The green lines on the map of Australia are the new roads travelled since adventuring in the Crusader.

As we are Queenslanders and have travelled reasonably throughout QLD and NSW we decided to travel the other states before really adventuring in QLD.  We have met many people who have been adventuring far longer than we have and it is fantastic to stop and listen to their wealth of knowledge both good and bad based on their experiences. Everyone has their opinion on "what you need or must have" but at the end of the day it all boils down to what suits you and your budget.

Australia is extremely diverse with many wonderful experiences waiting for anyone to explore. We have met a number of people who say "they will travel Australia one day" but they do not know how to start. Sit down, make a plan and a budget and just do it. Do not fall into the fallacy of it is too expensive as you can travel on any budget with many permanently travelling on the aged pension as their only source of income.

As we had no time frame to consider we decided to try our hand at house sitting. We commenced our first house sit in March 2019 and have now met some great people completing over twenty nine house  sits by the end of 2022. During this time we have looked after alpacas, sheep, cows, chickens, cats, birds, dogs, horses and gold fish. We have also enjoyed a little gardening and some landscaping. We continue to house sit when possible and some have been up to 5 repeats for the one home owner.
